What this site is
Downtown Blairsville is an independent guide to Blairsville, Georgia, and Union County: the courthouse square, the events calendar, the mountains and the lake, and what it’s like to live here. It is not an official site. It is not affiliated with the City of Blairsville, Union County, the Blairsville-Union County Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Development Authority or any festival. Those organizations have the final word on their own events and services, and we link to them throughout.
How we source
Every date, hour, fee and figure on this site links to where we read it, and pages show the date the facts were last checked. We prefer primary sources: the organizer, the city, the county, the Forest Service, Georgia State Parks, TVA, the Census Bureau. When only a secondary source exists, we say so. When sources disagree, we say which one we used and why. When something isn’t published, such as a parade start time or a festival’s admission price, we say that rather than guess.

About the photos and the film
Every photograph on this site is a real photo of the place it shows, credited with its photographer and license on the photo credits page. The film at the top of the home page is cut from six of those photographs, slowly panned and cross-faded. Nothing in it is generated.
